NOTD - Valentino SS 2012 Inspired Nail Art

As I am sure you have noticed, I am really in love with the Spring Summer Valentino collection right now. This cut and colour of this dress is so feminine and I love the little hint of black lace to add a little edge to it. Since I cannot justify spending thousands on a single dress, I am re-creating it with my DIY NOTD.

Materials: Etude House (Korean brand) nail art sticker, OPI base and top coat, Rimmel Nail Polish in Princess Pink, Sephora By OPI in Yellow It's Me Betsey, Barielle Nail Oil to soften cuticle and to strengthen nails.

  1. I started with a base coat, let dry, then applied Rimmel in Princess Pink. Let dry.
  2. Using a nail art brush, swirl Sephora by OPI in Yellow It's Me Betsey to create lace-like pattern/motif. Let dry.
  3. Apply various floral design of black nail art stickers. I used Etude House but any black floral would work.
  4. Seal everything in with a top coat. Let dry.
  5. Viola! You're done. :)
What do you think of the finished product?

Lunchtime Craving - Valentino Spring 2012

I love the nude colour and the luxurious embellishments of the antique crystals, vintage lace and rock studs on these Valentino pieces.  Can't wait till they are in store in April. What does your heart desire at the moment?

Wearing Now ~ Mini Skirt (in the parking lot)

My girlfriends and I made a date of watching The Vow on Saturday night, and decided to have a mini goofy photo session in the parking lot at 1:00 am in the early morning. Our friend Kathy is a bit camera shy so she ended up being Chai and my photographer. Thanks Kat! Hope you enjoy.

I also want to thank everyone for their sweet comments and emails. They mean so much to me. Thank you, sincerely!

Wearing Now ~ Primary Colours

It is finally getting sunnier, but not quite t-shirt & shorts weather yet.
Nonetheless, it is almost beach weather. We took Georges-Francois (our French bulldog) out to Stanley Park and Kits Beach for a nice long stroll. We also stopped by one of our favorite local restaurant, Cinch for pizza and pasta. My outfit was inspired by the clear sky, and ray of sunshine that I saw outside my window. Blue-ish purple jeans, turquoise sweater, yellow bag and red shoes....all very summery, no?

Meat & Bread

We have finally visited Meat and Bread, a local sandwich bistro in Vancouver Crosstown (border of Gastown and Chinatown). My boyfriend had always walked by the shop when he used to work close by. It wasn't until we saw an episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives with Guy Fieri that made us actually want to give it a try. The suckling, crispy pork with a simple green sauce coupled with bread was a done deal for us. We are familiar with suckling pig as it is a common Chinese dish but it is usually served with rice and barbeque sauce. Cutting to the chase, the porchetta (signature sandwich) promised the crispy skin that Guy Fieri was so fond of, as did the salsa verde sauce. However the sandwich as a whole was quite dry. I am no expert but I think it would be much more enjoyable if they would just put a little bit more sauce on each side of the bun to moisten it. The chicken sandwich on the other hand was perfection - perfectly flavoured and cooked chicken, the slaw added a nice crunch and the juice from the chicken softened the bread enough that it was easy to chew. The pork chili had generous bite-size pieces of pork and a nice kick to it.
