OOTD - Tweed and Metallic

I was on ShopBop the other week and I saw this Free People motorcycle style tweed jacket and knew I had to have it. It has an edgy motorcycle cut but still gives off a lady-like feel due to the boucle fabric. I was at work so couldn't purchase it and by the time I got home it had sold out.. Then last week, while on my lunch break, I went to my local The Bay department store to buy Top Shop tights and saw that they now carry Free People. I walked over to that section and spotted THE JACKET. Yep, the coveted jacket that had sold out on me! Well, it is at home with me now and it made a debut this weekend. Yay! It had a cropped back and while the tweed makes up most of the jacket, the sleeves are made of comfortable knitted cotton. It's light weight yet it keeps me warm in the odd in-between weather that is Vancouver.'s.  Anyways, I hope you enjoy these shots and please excuse the rear end shots. I only posted them to show the cropped back and different material between the body and the sleeves. Happy Monday!
Ahhhh...scuffed my Jimmy's. :(

Peek-a-boo on Top

Happy Saturday everyone! :)
I am missing the sun in Vancouver. The last time we had warm weather was over two weeks ago. I am sadden to have to pull out fall/winter sweaters for late April. As mentioned on my Twitter account, this weekend is the special money back event at Holt Renfrew. This is the time of year where I stock up on all of my staple items (anything from basic tees to skincare and cosmetics). Speaking of skincare, some of you have been asking me what I use so I will write on this topic next week.

On a very positive note, I am happy (with extreme enthusiasm) to announce that I have FINALLY found a Celine store in the universe to send me a Celine Mini Phantom. For those of you that are still looking, contact the Celine Store in Shinsegae Kangnam in Seoul, Korea at 1-3479-1988 immediately. They take credit card and will send you photos, etc. Don't get your hopes up for your colour of choice though. Good luck and let me know how it works out for you.
My bf calls this top the "Nun" top. I like this top for its comfort level and it's got a girly built-in bib. What not to like about that?

Top - Marc by Marc Jacobs // Cardigan - Line knitwear with crochet back
Jeans - Rich & Skinny // Belt - Talula Babaton
Bag - Chanel // Shoes - Zara ankle strap wedge
Accessories -  Social Experiment ring, DIY crystal with leather strap bracelet, Links of London pink friendship bracelet and Blee Inara evil eye beaded bracelet.

NOTD - Carven S/S 2012 Runway Inspired Nail Art

I have been eye-ing this Carven collection for quite some time now. It would be a shame not to at least re-create it! I was going to apply actual crystal gem but I ran out of the clear ones so have opted for glitter clear lacquer instead. The red and beige stripes look a bit Easter so I decided to keep it simple and do it on the one finger only. What do you think of the end result?
Base & Top coat - Sephora by OPI
Base colour - Sephora by OPI in Neutral Beauty
Stripes - Sephora by OPI in Pushing Your Luck (fire engine red) and Sally Hansen in Midnight Navy (dark blue/almost black).
Glitter - Anna Sui in #240.
Nail art brush for drawing. I used a 0.5 mm tip.

April 2012 BirchBox

This is my third BirchBox so far, and I am still loving the subscription.  Not sure if you are aware but I have a huge cosmetic stash but that does nott stop me from collecting more. For $10 per box, it’s totally worth the price.  You get interesting samples and sometimes, full size products and there's an element of surprise which adds to the fun. What's in others' box may be completely different from your's.

This month’s theme: Natural Wonders.
In my box: Harvey Prince Yogini perfume sample vial - this is some sort of spray that will help you relax and keep calm. This smell of sandalwood and I find that scent a little overpowering. // Juice Beauty Oil-free Moisturizer (5 ml) - organic fruit-based hydrator that won't clog pores. I will give this a try on my next vacation since it's a good size to take on a short trip and is airplane friendly. // WEI Black Soy Instant Lifting Face Treatment (1 treatment mask worth $11) I don't think I need any "lifting" treatment for my age right now, I will give it to my mom to try. // Zoya True Spring Collection in Bevin (7.5 ml , about $4) - very excited to try this colour which is a blue-gray. // MicrodermaMitt Face Mitt (full size, worth $28.50) - a natural silk mitt that gently exfoliates away dead skin cells and pore-clogging debris. This product, I am extremely excited to try. In fact, I will use it tonight!

In my experience, I have always received at least one full size product that is worth more than the $10 I pay. So BirchBox has really worked out for me. Yes, you can get free samples in department stores but a lot of the time, it's a packet sample. And if you want deluxe samples, you either have to spend a minimum amount or save up points to redeem.

Do you have a BirchBox subscription? What is in your box?

Wearing Now ~ Leopard Print & Tweed for Cats

My friends and I saw Cats Musical at Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver the other evening. Dorothy and I wanted to have a full on experience so we had whiskers painted on our faces. As for the show itself, I have heard many reviews on Cats and have read that it is one of the longest running broadway show, so presumably thought it was going to be a good show. While my friends and I were excited going to the show, we left confused and a little dissapointed. The only song that we knew was Memory (we used to sing it in Highschool choir class) which was very well done but the rest of the songs were slow and dry. I had a difficult time following and staying awake, especially after 8+ hours in the office. As for the dancing, other than the Elvis cat hip turning Shakira-style dance move in the second act, the rest of the dancing was mediocre at best.
L-R: Me, Liz, Dorothy, Jena
