Taking The Silk Road - Club Monaco Silk Skirt

Moving with the summer breeze, catching the summer light, this is what silk is all about. The freedom of summer and the feel of this fabric are quite the pair, especially when the weather is in between sun and rain which cause a lot of humidity.  With that in mind, I put on an all silk outfit. I bought this Club Monaco skirt recently because I really loved the light-ness of it (feels like you have nothing on) and the patterns (looks like cave drawings from thousands of years back).
I hope you've enjoyed my recent Celine bag post. I'll try to incorporate more "How To" segments into my blog since it drove in a lot of visits (assuming people liked it).

On July 2nd, I will be having another giveaway, sponsored by Shabby Apple. Check out their webshop here. I will also be posting a discount code for you to shop.

How To: Decide Which Celine Bag To Buy

Hi Everyone, thanks for all your support and for reading my blog. Since I have had a lot of comments on my Celine bag and a lot of questions from friends and people on the streets asking about the size, price, where to buy, etc etc....I thought I'd write a post about it.

First off, the model that I have is the Celine Mini Luggage (tote), measuring 12" W x 12" H x 7" D (excluding wings). It is a bi-colour (forest green and black) in lamb skin on the interior and calf leather on the exterior. See my Mini Luggage here and here.

As nerdy as it will sound, I actually did a lot of research before purchasing the bag. The reasons being there are just so many styles, sizes, colour combinations and types of leather to choose from. Where would one begin, right? It is also next to impossible to find it in store so I couldn't even touch one before giving away my credit card number to some stranger overseas! Now that I've done all the leg work and got the bag I wanted, I am sharing with you my compiled research.

Style / Model / Size / Price:

The ever popular Luggage (smallest to largest) - Nano; Micro; Mini; Shoulder; Medium.
Nano - 8″H x 8″W x 4″D  | $1,950+
Micro - 10″H x 10″W x 6″D  | $2,200+
Mini - 12″H x 12″W x 7″D  | $2,400 - $3,900 and if you must splurge
Shoulder - 12″H x 15″W x 7″D (New for Spring 2012)
Medium - 15″H x 15″W x 7″D (Discontinued for Spring 2012)
Envelope Luggage -  Not too sure about this one but I think it runs similar to that of the regular luggage.
Phantom -  small: 11″H x 12″W x 10″D  // large: 13″H x 14″W x 11″D  | $2,600+
Cabas -  16" H x 13"W x 6" D   | $1,100+
Trapeze -  9.5″H x 12″w x 7″D  | $2,100 - $3,900
Box - small:  7″W x 5″H x 3″D; 20″ length of strap // medium:  9″W x 8″H x 3.5″D; 37″ length of strap //  large: 11.5″ x 10″H x 3.5″D  | $2,900+
Triptyque - 9″H x 14″W x 6″D  | $2,300+

Leather:

Palmeleto Leather, hand-drummed smooth calf leather; the same variation as mine. This leather is famous for being used on the finest handbags, such as Celine Classic Box bags and those by Hermes.
The interior of all palmeleto leather exterior is lamb skin making the bag very luxrious but heavy at times. This luxury also adds to the price tag but I tell you, it is worth every penny.

Pebbled Leather which is also calf leather but it is treated differently so it looks more like its raw form with more texture. The interior material paired with this leather is PL, also known as polyester or alcantara which gives off the appearance and feel of the material  to that of suede. It supposedly is tougher and does not cause the bag to slouch, but the thought of polyester and Celine together is offensive. =/

Past collections included pieces in leathers like baby buffalo, suede, Mongolian lamb, striped flannel, python and crocodile skin.  The croc-suede combo was asking $16,000a pop.

Azure Blue Elizabeth & James Blazer

Azure blue is the official colour of perfect blue sky. As I've mentioned before, Vancouver does not get a lot of sunshine nor blue sky. So...I create it in my wardrobe! I saw this eye catching bright blue Elizabeth and James blazer hanging on a rack in Holt Renfrew and I couldn't resist it. It reminded me of a similar coloured jacket I loved when I was in highschool which my mother made me give away to good will. She said the colour was "out". LOL. In all fairness, it was the early 2000's and nobody was wearing neon and bright colours. Lucky for me, this blazer was found! It was meant to be, that one faithful afternoon. Pretty Blue Floral Print

I love this Juicy Couture hyacinthe dress for so many reasons. Let's see...1) it's made of silk (read this post on why I love silk), 2) it's so cute and makes me feel like a decorated cake topper in it and 3) the colour and print scream summer and happiness. The photos also turned out perfectly thanks to good weather and great photography skill of my friend Lily.

Printed Silk Top + Duo Tone Pumps

Silk is one of those materials that can keep you warm in the cold and keep you cool in the heat. I love a good silk top and I think Joie and Club Monaco have some of the best all around silk tops. This Club Monaco top has an easy shape that is flattering on all body types. You can wear it tucked with a fitted skirt for work and un-tucked with jeans for a casual look on the weekend. I am debating between this and this for my next purchase. What's your opinion on silk?

OOTD - Neon Pink Sandro Skirt

I went to a Art Deco Talk and Tour with my good friend Liz last week and I learned so much about 1920's and 1030's fashion. Did you know the flapper style (straight-lined chemise top and low-waisted) dress was created to purposely not highlight women's curves so they appear innocent and youthful?
Don't forget to enter my $100 Miinto.com Giveaway here.
Happy hump day.

Keeping it simple this week with pinks..well, sort of.
Layer 1 & 2 - Essie in Shop Till I Drop (sheer salmon pink). Decided it was still too pale so on to...layer 3 & 4 - Essie in Sequin Sash (sheer glittery bronze with silver flecks).
For a punch of colour, I added a fifth layer to my ring fingers. Unfortunately I cannot tell what the colour is called as it is a Face Shop polish written in Korean. It is however, very similar to Sephora by OPI in I'm Wired.

OOTD - Royal Blue + Red + Green

I have been lusting over the Parisian brand Sandro lately. I've purchased three items from them within a one month time span. This royal blue silk top adds a  punch of bright colour to my otherwise would be plain outfit. Love it! I am very exciting about the Art Deco Chic Talk and Tour with Ivan Sayers at the Vancouver Museum tomorrow. Anyone who knows me on a personal level will know that I am obsessed with 1920 -1940's fashion.  What is your favorite fashion era?
Thank you everyone for your comments and for visiting. :)

NOTW Ciate Caviar Manicure + Outfit Snap Shots

NOTW - Ciate Caviar Manicure set in Rainbow. The set comes with a nail polish in Strawberry Milkshake 079 and a bottle of caviar pearls in multi color along with a plastic tray and mini funnel. To apply the caviar is a chord in itself as you have to apply each nail individually which is really time consumming but the end result is pretty outstanding. My nails look like they have sprinkles on them and almost everyone that sees my fingers ask me about them. The only big negative for me is you have to be extremely cautious as simple tasks like opening a can of tomato sauce or going into the sauna can cause the caviar pearls to fall off. The box claims they last up to 48 hours but I had to reapply after a few hours otherwise my nails look chipped. The pink on the other nails is OPI in Don't
Know...Beets Me!
